She/her/hers
Award winning author Sarah Aronson began writing for kids and teens when someone in an exercise class dared her to put her stories on paper. A former physical therapist, religious school director, bookseller, and exercise instructor, Sarah already knew the power of a great story. After earning an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Vermont College, she began creating workshops for writers as well as the initiative, Read Local Illinois. She has published a variety of books for kids and teens.
When Sarah is not writing or reading, she loves talking with readers and educators about curiosity, creativity, writing, the power of imperfection, and the importance of social action. She has been leading workshops and retreats for aspiring children’s book authors at The Highlights Foundation since 2008.
In March 2024, Sarah was awarded the Prairie Writer Award for contributions to literature and literacy. She is delighted to serve on the Board of Directors for the Jane Addams Peace Association. Books make the world better! She lives in Chicago, Illinois. www.saraharonson.com
