Tatesha Clark is a Brooklyn native with Caribbean roots with more than two decades of experience inside New York City schools. A mother, sister, equity practitioner, and special educator, Tatesha has spent most of her career working with families, faculty, and administrators on how to bring anti-racist practices into their school communities.A classroom teacher for many years, Tatesha has a passion for building equity into the daily life of a school community. She has presented on this topic as well as other facets of race, equity, and inclusion at both local and national conferences. Ms. Clark currently serves as a Director of Diversity and Equity at a K-12 independent school in New York City. In this role she supports parents, faculty, board members, administrators and staff on how to talk to children about race and racism. She also works with these constituents on examining their own racial identities, and how to develop and apply an anti-bias lens to their work in and outside of schools. She has presented on this topic as well as other facets of race, equity, and inclusion at both local and national conferences. She is also passionate about the ways learning disabilities and literacy instruction intersect with race and class in our country’s educational institutions. Educated at Brooklyn College and Bank Street College of Education, Tatesha has most recently attended Harvard University’s School Leaders of Color Organizational Development Collaborative, where she worked with educators of color from across the country to engage in problem solving around trending issues of diversity and equity, and social justice in schools. When not working, you will most likely find Tatesha near the ocean with a book, or a journal writing down her thoughts and dreams.
